Questions

Is the TLC Right for Me?

Who would benefit from a session?

Anyone looking to grow, personally or professionally. This includes:

    • Executives and senior managers seeking a confidential sounding board;
    • New leaders finding their footing;
    • Individuals navigating a career change or transition;
    • Entrepreneurs and business owners aiming for sustainable growth;
    • Anyone feeling “stuck” and seeking clarity and direction in their life or career; and more.

How do I choose the right Practitioner for me?

We recommend reading our Practioners’ Bios and “Areas of Expertise” sections for each Practitioner on both our People and Home pages respectively. Consider what you want to focus on. Are you looking for practical leadership strategies (Andrew), confidence and goal-setting (Pele), or a unique approach centered on joy and identity (Murray)? If you’re still unsure, you can reach out and we can help guide you.

How many sessions will I need?

This is entirely up to you and your goals. Some individuals find a single session provides the breakthrough clarity they need. Others prefer to book a series of sessions over several months to work on longer-term goals and ensure accountability. There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions required.

Do you offer Group Packages?

Yes! We are pleased to offer tailor-made Group Packages for organisations wishing to provide for members of their leadership team to access our 1-1 sessions. Please reach out to us here so we can develop something that best fits your organisation and needs.

How Can and Do I Pay?

How do you take payment?

Payment is taken at the time of booking, through our secure booking platform. Credit card payments are available.

Can my employer pay for my sessions?

Yes, many employers are willing to invest in leadership development for their staff. We can provide a tax invoice for your employer if they agree to cover the cost of your sessions. We recommend discussing this with your manager or HR department. Please reach out if we can assist in any way.

Can I claim sessions on private health insurance or Medicare?

Our coaching services are not covered by Medicare or private health insurers.

What is a Session and How Do I Attend?

What is the difference between an in-person and an online session?

Both formats are equally effective and follow the same structure. In-person sessions offer the benefit of face-to-face interaction. Online sessions provide flexibility and convenience, allowing you to connect with our Practitioners from anywhere. The choice comes down to your personal preference and location.
Please note that some Practitioners have specific availability (e.g., Murray Newman is exclusively online).

Where do the in-person sessions take place?

As a general rule, in-person sessions are conducted at our space in Eight Mile Plains, Queensland. Practitioners may, however, offer alternative locations through their booking page or by consultation.

Is there parking available for in-person sessions?

Yes, there is free on street parking, and also paid parking, available at our location in Eight Mile Plains for your convenience.

What Type of Clinic are You?

Are you a registered Counselling Clinic?

No, our services are coaching-based (and primarily action-orientated) for your leadership development. We are not a counseling or psychology clinic.

The focus of our coaching work is primarily present- or forward-looking, with emphasis on reflection for advancement, setting and achieving future goals, enhancing skills, and improving performance.

Some of our Practitioners are, however, registered Counselors and while we don’t offer this specific service through the TLC, their approach is informed by this background and training.

Please see our Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability Statement (below) for further information.

It’s my First Session – What should I Expect?

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a 75-minute exploration. You’ll have the space to bring your questions and discuss what’s on your mind. From this self-directed starting point, your Practitioner will guide the conversation with an insightful, workshop-style approach to help define and construct personalised strategies to move you forward. It’s a collaborative and confidential conversation designed to provide immediate value.

Do I need to prepare anything for my session?

No formal preparation is required as a general rule. Certain Practitioners have an Intake Questionnaire they may ask you to complete and return prior to your first session. This will be emailed to the address you provided at the time of booking.

Many individuals also find it helpful to spend a few minutes thinking about what they’d like to achieve or discuss. Consider these questions: “What is my biggest challenge right now?” or “If I could change one thing, what would it be?”. This can help focus the session, but it’s perfectly fine to come as you are and discover the focus together with your Practitioner.

Are the sessions confidential?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our service. Your session is a safe, private space for you to explore any topic with the assurance that your conversation will be held in the strictest confidence. This is subject only to standard expectations as outlined below in our Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting Statement.

Are Practitioners subject to Reporting or Supervision requirements?

Yes, they are. Our Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting Statement (below) outline all these matters for your information.

Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting Statement

We prioritise the trust and privacy of our clients. All sessions are conducted in the strictest confidence, providing you with a safe environment to explore your personal and professional challenges.

It is important to note, however, that there are specific legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality. Our practitioners, particularly those who are registered Counselors and members of professional peak bodies (such as the ACA or PACFA), are bound by mandatory reporting requirements.

Confidentiality may be waived in the following circumstances:

    • Risk of Harm: If a Practitioner has reasonable grounds to believe that a client is at imminent risk of harming themselves or others.
    • Protection of Minors: If there is a disclosure or suspicion of risk involving the safety or well-being of a child.
    • Legal Obligation: If records are subpoenaed by a court of law or if there is a statutory requirement to report specific criminal activities.
    • Professional Supervision: To ensure the highest quality of care, Practitioners may discuss cases in a de-identified manner with a professional supervisor.

If desired, your Practitioner is available to discuss these boundaries with you during your initial session to ensure you have full clarity before your session proceeds.
